Getting Started
The past 5 days have been a whirlwind that winded down with us moving to the north woods (a few insights into those days, we went from Italy to Germany to moving out of an apartment in Madison, retrieving our dogs in Sheboygan, and then moving and unpacking!).
After almost a year of planning, it is finally time to start my project. Although I am officially starting tomorrow, I tend to work ahead when I have not much to do. Because my husband left this morning, I have been chomping at the bit to stay occupied by non-Netflix related activities. So I began my work by glancing at two articles about different approaches to predator conservation. One calls for a top down approach using government policies while the other calls for a more collaborate approach. Both of these articles made valid and compelling narratives for why their approach works best. As most of us know there is not a magic answer to conserving a species, but rather its a long and complex road. Overall, I think, like the articles hinted at, it really depends on the context of where the predators are living and social/cultural aspects affecting conservation outcomes. If you are interested in reading the articles let me know and I can send you the titles. I will also be meeting with Adrian today to go over his summer schedule and I will take a look at the survey results I sent to the board of directors.
In already three short months this will all be over and I am so excited to begin! Please come back to my blog weekly to check out what I have been learning and doing!
