Reading... lots of Reading....

Hey Everyone,

2017 book that I found really compelling
for middle school or high school
students!
I hope I didn't stress you out too much with my previous post. I now have almost $4000 of sponsor ships! My goal is to surpass last year, which is right under $6000. So I have been emailing lots of places and spent 4 hours last week calling past sponsors. Which only one person actually answered the phone. I did manage to get already 2 new sponsors, so hopefully we can get all of last year's and these, I would be happy!

I did start to switch my focus over to working on my school project. My project currently is two fold. One I am creating new TWA presentations that can be used a various ages. Currently has a elementary, middle/high school, and an adult presentation. I have sent these to my supervisor to get hear what he thinks. I did write a script that would go with each slide, if this would be wanted by the speaker using it.

From 2008, but gives a history of
the wolf reintroduction to Yellowstone
that I think can provide children some
interesting insights!
Second thing I am hoping to do is create an online database of wolf education materials. The biggest focus of this for me right now is reading a lot of children's books. Then I determine if they are relevant to 2017. If they are still relevant to the people going to read them, I figure out the text level and write a short description. I am basically making a wolf book list. I am arranging them between fiction and nonfiction and then by reading level. I hope that educators would use this to find some good books for their classroom in which they could request at their local libraries. I also put notes on the descriptions if some content is out of date or inaccurate.

As reading kids books slows down, I am hoping to start to go over already created curriculum about wolves and align them with state standards. I won't be able to post their lessons because of copy right laws, but I do want people to be aware what is out there that they could rent or purchase to use in their classrooms. Some of the older ones are still relevant because the focus mostly on ecology and biology. However, those are not aligned with any standards! So that is my next goal for the week!

Hope all is well!
